I am a CA licensed psychotherapist trained in brain-behavior dynamics, health psychology, and behavioral medicine. I specialize in children, adults, couples, and families impacted by neurological issues such as epileptic seizures, brain surgery, and NES (non-epileptic seizures).

About me
Native of San Francisco, I attended UC Davis and began research in personality and social psychology in 2002. I obtained my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from San Francisco State University. I published my thesis on change of social and cognitive function in epilepsy patients after brain surgery. I began working at UCSF Epilepsy Center in 2004 and became Mental Health Director in 2013.
My approach
Brain issues like seizures and neurosurgery are accompanied by many personal struggles. These conditions also take a heavy emotional toll on a couple or a family. My techniques have a client-centered focus and my style of intervention is to collaborate with individuals, couples, and families.
Fee and payment
Currently, I do not accept insurance. My rate for each 45-minute telehealth session is $250. Your insurance may provide reimbursement for “out of network” mental health treatment. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, contact me at gilbertwoopsych@gmail.com
